Let’s get organized — together!

I don’t know about your home, but at our place, life is busy. Sometimes, it’s all we can do to make it through the day, get to work and school on time, eat, have some clean clothes to wear, and get the homework done. There is so much to do, so many details to remember. I don’t know about you, but for me, it’s hard to muster up the energy and conviction to start organizing at the end of a long day — or a long week. Even though I love things organized and tidy, there’s only so many hours in the day and so much energy!

Our family has moved away from our home, and back again, every six months for the past three years. Three years of near-constant packing and unpacking. So, even though we are now settled back into our home, things are not yet “in place.”┬áSo I’m very much in the process of organizing, and re-acquiring shelves, storage, and systems that get our home to work the best for us. (Yes, I purged before many of our moves, and now I wish I’d held on to some of those pieces that worked just right.)

It helps that I love to organize and make things beautiful. I admit that. I have been known to spend a Saturday afternoon re-folding the towels in my linen closet so that everything is tidy. Of course, I might be doing this when I should be unpacking more boxes in the basement, but it’s so fulfilling to see all those neat stacks of fresh towels! Am I right?!

So let’s organize together, in the spare minutes and the chunks of time we can carve out. Room by room, I will be sharing what works for us, products I love, systems that keep me sane, and also things I’ve tried that failed. Because I’m all about keeping it real. There’s no perfection over here.

I’d love to hear from you with your questions, your organizing wins, your challenges. We can work on solutions and ideas to get your home working for you — and have it be a place your whole family enjoys.
